THE XXII MILLE MIGLIA MERCEDES-BENZ 300SLR
The 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300SLR, built to compete in Sports Car Racing and enetered in the XXII Mille Miglia open road race in Italy, at the hands of works driver Stirling Moss and navigator Denis Jenkinson.
The allocated start time of 7:22am, painted in large red numerals on the car and the dramatic victory just 10 hours later at a record average of 97.98mph, created a legend of both driver and car - now simply know as '722'.
